Meet

Hi, English Gurus!

I heard that the verb MEET is used for meeting someone for the first time.

So, "I met my mother" is wrong, and we have to say, "I met up with my mother", if it is not for the first time.

And that if a time or a location is added, MEET can be used, even when it is not the first time..

Then, I am not sure how the sentences below will be accepted by native speakers, when it is not for the first time.

A. I met him yesterday.

B. I met my mother yesterday.

Thanks in advance!
