Medical Writing for Clinical Trials

Hi,

I am an American ESL teacher with a student interested in improving his medical writing. He is interested in submitting a research article on several clinical trials to US journals, but needs help with writing up his work. Does anyone know of good resources for working with a student that has this goal in mind?

Thanks,

Mike

try starting with the journal where he intends sending his manuscript to see how they want him to do it. Then imitate the style. Remind him about structuring his publication clearly in the IMRAD format, about acknowledgements and stating who did what and about plagiarism .

  • How come he is writing a paper alone, in these days of multi-centre RCTs ?

For a student WHO has this in mind, (not THAT) Emotion: smile one of the best resources, if he can pay, is a GOOD medical editor/transcriptionist

you could maybe also put an ad in the American Association of Medical Writers monthly newsletter - google it. Or ask at your local hospital's transcription department - if they still have one in-house - many no longer do.
