Medical sentence correction

Physical examination showed a tumour in the armpit. This is 'okay', but "tumor" has two meanings.

1. a lump (small) or mass (large), without necessarily knowing or implying what it is

2. a benign

You can write it in two ways. They are;

1. Physical exam showed a lump/mass in the armpit.( As suggested by Canadian)

2. Physical examination revealed a lump/mass in the armpit (General English).

3. Physical examination revealed axillary mass in the armpit ( Medical English).

That's not correct. As "axilla" is the anatomical term for "armpit", no one should say "..revealed (an) axillary mass in the armpit."

The sentence "Physical examination revealed an axillary mass (in the armpit)", is erroneous.
