Meanings of two words (inclication vs preferences)

Hi!
Today I heard word "inclication". I looked in dictinary, and I found there

>>-a person's natural tendency or urge to act or feel in a particular way; a disposition or propensity >>John was a scientist by training and inclination | he was free to follow his inclinations
>>(other one) a person's natural tendency or urge to act or feel in a particular way; a disposition

Does it meanings smt like preferences? Can I use "preferences" instead "inclication" ?

Thanks.
