Meaning or meanings?

Hi. I'm sure a word has its own meaning or meanings (I believe a word can have more than one definitions). Now, should it be "meaning" or "meanings" for the underlined part in the example sentence? Thank you in advance for your help.

Sometimes new words are introduced, showing their meaning/meanings.

Thank you for your answer and your correction of the word "definitions" after "more than one" in the part (without a period) in parentheses: I believe a word can have more than one definitions

If the example sentence were changed into this, which would it be correct, meaning or meanings? I hope this new example sentence makes sense. Thank you again in advance for your help.

AnonymousThese days new words for this language are introduced every so often with their meaning or meanings.
I suggest that you keep both words there, as a word can have one meaning or more.

A puzzling sentence, all in all. How does a newly introduced word show its meaning(s)? It's possible you meant a different word there.
