Meaning of "towing a line"

Hi,

Would you tell me what "towing" means in the sentence below?

I find myself (a hotel clerk) saying this a lot while towing the line (hotel guests).

Thanks,
M

I think it's "toeing the line". It means being diplomatic, being very careful not to give offense.
