meaning of "too"

2. A shepherd took a new-born cub which he had discovered in the woods and raised it up with his own dogs till it was an adult. Whenever a sheep was stolen by another wolf, this special wolf ran always with the dogs to try and catch the other wolf. And if the dogs returned without catching the wolf, it went on until it overtook him, and then shared the sheep with him. Sometimes, too, when no sheep had been stolen, this special wolf raised with the dogs secretly killed a sheep and shared it with the dogs.
