Meaning of "to charge to something"

Hey. Can someone explain me meaning of this sentence: "he is charging to the end zone"

Top answer

With no context, I can only guess. In American football, the end zone is the last ten yards at either end of the field. To charge to it is to run there with force.

  • But your clause is a bit off somehow for that.

'to charge' is mostly used of horses, but by extension it can be applied to a person who is running.

Ignorance charging to destruction. My sentence was about it. Proofreader replaced "leading" for "charging" and it really confused me.
