Meaning of the word

"He piled and stored all of the food"

I don't quite get the word "piled"

Does it mean "collecting" or "putting layer by layer on top of each other"

Could anyone help me understand the word in the context?

Thanks

deborahjeong "He piled and stored all of the food"I don't quite get the word "piled" I don't get it either. To pile the food means to mound it up. I suppose all together it means that he stored all the food in piles (mounds), though it can also mean that he piled up the food first and then stored the piles of food.

  • deborahjeong Does it mean "collecting" or "putting layer by layer on top of each other" 'Piling' is not 'collecting'.
  • It doesn't have to be 'layering' either.

It does not make any sense unless you are talking about potatoes or something similar.
