Meaning of the underlined sentence

We say that we prize nonconformity and originality, but those dinghies can be hard to spot in the choppy seas of sloppiness, inattention, and laziness. I remember an occasion when a colleague stormed up to me, shaking in fury at a student "who just doesn't give a damn."In his hands was the prima facie evidence, its margins writhing with the ink of his indignation.

Hi, This text is written in a very hyperbolic style. The colleague was holding some of the student's written work. The colleague had covered the edges (margins) of the pages with angry comments and criticisms.

Dictionary says writhing means to twist or to experience strong emotion.

So how does that meaning fit in the given context?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

It's just a figurative and dramatic way of saying that the writing in the margins was so full of anger. so emotional, that it almost seemed to be moving (writhing) on the pages.
