Meaning of "The above"

Hello! Is there anyone who can help me with this one?

A name of a person is mentioned in a diploma (ie Dimitris Papadopoulos) and underneath there is a text as per below:

"The above (refering to the person) graduated from the School of Medicine on 26/03/2005 with grade 07.00"

Is this phrase correct?

Could you please give me your advice?

If the information is correct, then the sentence would better read:

The above graduated from the School of Medicine on 3 March 2005 with a grade point average of 07.00.
