meaning of "some blank paper"

Hi, I have two questions regarding the sentence below.

"I found a pencil and some blank paper in her desk."

1) what kind of "some" is this? I would have no trouble to understand this if it read, "some pieces of blank paper." How should I visuallize this part?

2) Is it OK to understand this "in her desk" as "in a drawer of her desk"?

Thank you,
M

1) It's the same kind of "some" as in "some rice" or "some money". In this context we assume that the paper is in sheets, so it is interpreted the same as "some blank sheets of paper". In another context, "some paper" could mean scraps of paper, rolls of paper, or whatever.

2) Yes, that would be the normal interpretation.
