Happiness was born a twin means you will feel happiness twice. Once when you actually feel it and second when you share it with someone else.

I am not sure whether it means that, or whether it means that happiness "comes in pairs", i.e. it needs two people to be happy together.

I think he is trying to describe a form of love, and as such, that you would need a relationship with another person to experience it and share the joy. In a way saying that you cannot produce that happiness by yourself?
