Meaning of "A bona fide cultural phenomenon"

Can anyone tell me, what is the meaning of this phrase, I know what is the meaning of " bona fide " ( good faith). But to tell you the truth, the rest of the sentence confuses me a little bit.

In these sentences :

1) Ebay has become "a bona fide cultural phenomenon".


2) (Six Feet Under)The show has quickly grown into "a bona fide cultural phenomenon", grabbing many Golden Globe and Emmy Awards in 2002 .
