What is the meaning of "people will read again." in the following context? Is it common to use?

-- your job. Your life. Your position. They are working day and night. to cheat you out of your
51% vote. And they are going to sell this tradition, this tradition of words, so they can eat at a better cafeteria. And what they don't know is this - (gestures grandly to books that surround them)

It is not an idiom. It just means what it says: people will return to reading books as a pursuit. It applies to the fictional situation of Vanilla Sky, but also somewhat to the world we live in now, where many people do not read books.
