Meaning of "out of the way"

Hi,

What is the meaning of "out of the way" in the sentence below? Would you rephrase the part I underlined?

Then she storms over to the couch and knocks a couple Italians out of the way.

Thanks,
M

Hi, thank you for the reply.

So is it like, she is furiously going back to the couch, and on her way, she steps out of the direction and hits a couple of Italian guys?

thanks

No. The Italians are in her path on maybe on the couch. She does not step aside to do that.
