Meaning of "in the spirit of full honesty"

"Those are certainly things we need in large doses these days. We've all seen the inspirational power of kindness amid this crisis. And, in the spirit of full honesty, research has also shown that kindness can create a competitive business advantage."

In the above, does "in the spirit of full honesty" mean something like "honestly speaking" or does it mean something like "if you do kindness with honesty"? Or does it mean something different?
