Meaning of "in" related to job

(1) You are in acting.

(2) You are in accounting.

(3) You are in singing.

I have heard people say these sentences. I think this is what they mean.

(1a) You are an actor.

(2a) You are an accountant.

(3a) You are a singer.

Do the first three sentences refer to jobs? Are they idiomatic? Thanks a lot.
