Meaning of "danger" in this sentence?

There was no danger that he or his family would have to look at rows of houses lived in by people who wouldn't know how to make their gardens nice _ if indeed there was room for gardens, which there probably wouldn't be.

(I can't understand this sentence and specially the word "danger" here.

"no danger" = "no risk (of the stated thing happening)". In other words, the speaker/narrator is confident that he and his family will not have to look at houses like that.
