meaning of "communicator"

Hi,

By definition, the meaning of “communicator” is;

someone who is able to tell people about their ideas and emotions in a way that other people understand

but I am wondering if it can be used, practically, in more extensive ways.

For instance, is it OK to say, “English is one of communicators” since it is a tool (or a medium) via which ideas and emotions are conveyed?

I guess there’s lyrics “music is a great communicator” by RHCP, so it it makes sense, “English is a communicator” sounds acceptable to me.

Thanks,
M

You could say that English is a means of communication, but English itself doesn't have ideas of its own, it is a tool that people use to communicate their ideas.

  • Strictly speaking, I wouldn't say that music can be a communicator either, but I suppose one could personify it, and view the emotions it arouses as being the message of the music.

There is no other entry, so this is the only usage of the word, other than by metaphor.
English is a language, and the language can be used for good or poor communication. It is not a communicator.
Music also can communicate emotions or idea
