Meaning of Commission Shop?

What is the meaning of 'Commission Shop'? Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked Google? My guess is that it sells items on commission for clients, perhaps like ebay, except it's a bricks and mortar shop. You take the item to the shop, and the proprietor displays it for sale.

Yes, I did check Google, but the results were not helpful. One explanation I came across was it is a 'second-hand shop (in Russia)'.

Avangi, thank you very much for your efforts.

Hi,
The shop I was attempting to describe would in fact be a second-hand shop, as would ebay, if I'm not mistaken.

I'd say the difference lies in who owns the merchandise while it's in the possession of the proprietor, waiting to be sold.

"Second-hand shops" are common in the US.

Can you provide an example of how you saw it used? I may mean something like a "consignment shop" or "**** shop", but it can also be used colloquially to mean a company/place of business (the shop) has a sales force that is paid only by commissions not with a salary.

I suspect "commission shop" and "consignment shop" are the same.
