"Mary's beauty is carrying over to Anne"
1. What is "is carrying over to" mean?
2. Why "Anne's" is not used?
3. Is "carrying over to" an idiom? Or it's a phrase?
4. Could I say"John's talent/work performance is carrying over to Henry? Thank you.

'carry over' is an odd little phrase anyway; it isn't idiomatic really. The only use I can think of is in maths, where numbers are sometimes 'carried over'.

I saw it from a blog and I copied it down because of my attraction to the usage. Two pictures of Anne and Mary are put next to each other to do the comparison. I looked up the dictionary to find the meaning of it but nothing showed for it.
