Meaning of a word in english
I am searching for a word to describe a personality trait:
Imagine there is a man with a terrible past. when he was in his teens his father used to punish him and hit him everyday without a reasonable reason and his mother insulted him whenever she talked to him.I mean he was belittled all the time when he was a teenager. now he has a boy and he treats his boy exactly like he was treated in the past by his parents because he has a good feeling in this way and it makes his calm.

As a child, he was physically and verbally abused . I don't know of a word that refers to a person repeating the behavior as an adult. I'm sure there is one, though.
