Meaning of a sentence

Does the bold section mean "the idea that different lines can connect locations of historic events and locations of Jewish culture on a map has inspired the zigzag form of this construction"?

Context:

The Jewish Museum by Daniel Libeskind resembles a broken Star of David – a zigzag of sorts – but jagged lines also break its zinc-clad exterior wall surfaces. Connecting lines between locations of historic events and locations of Jewish culture in Berlin form the basis of the design. Libeskind has also referenced expressions of the disappearance of Jewish culture in the city. These ideas are conveyed through the crooked paths through the building and by the existence of spaces that visitors cannot enter.
