Meaning?

Hi, Would you please tell me what is the meaning of fish files in the following text:

With no court or hearings scheduled for days, it should have been a good time to catch up with the old stuffs - the fish files that every lawyer had for some reason said yes to a year ago and now just wanted to go away.

Thanks

"Fish files" is the title of Grisham's story. Apparently it is a reference to fishing. You are said to figuratively go fishing when you try different things in an attempt to get lucky and get a reward, the way a fisherman tries different lures and baits and casts in different areas.

  • Grisham calls them "fish files", but I have never heard the expression before, not that I would have, not being a shyster lawyer.
