Meaning

Hi

"She knew that she would weep again when she saw the kind, tender hands folded in dead; the face that never looked save with love upon her.

(From the story The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin)

I have a question on the italicized portion.

I suppose the speaker says the person's face always expressed love when he saw her.

Am I correct?
