Well, it takes place in the stadium. John is a rugby player.
He drops to the bottom of the pitch, pulling everyone together. It’s empty, except some journalists. (Maybe they have practice). “Pulling everyone together” - probably means pulling players together. I have major problems with “drops to the bottom of the pitch” - is he leaving the pitch or maybe that’s some rugby expression?
