Meaning?

Hi,

What is the meaning of a quiet wake in the following text?

Those on ferries and smaller vessels couldn't help but gawk as Brianna

moved by, her twin 2,000- horsepower Caterpillar diesels churning a quiet wake.

Please take note that Brianna is the name of a mega -yacht.

Thanks

'Wake' has many meanings. This one is the churning up of the sea behind a vessel when it moves through the water. If the engine is not making a lot of noise, and the propeller or other driving unit isn't moving the water around a lot, the 'wake' will seem quiet and relatively peaceful.
