Meaning?

Hi,

Could you please tell me what is the meaning of "we got today" in the following text?

"We're in worse shape than we ever thought with this jury, " said Philips. "We're lucky we got today."

Thanks

It does not make sense to me. Did you hear it or read it? Can you provide more of it before and after?

Thank you. It's still hard to say what it means without knowing what happened that day. It sounds like something happened earlier in the day that impressed the jury favorably for these speakers. In other words, they feel fortunate that today's events occurred.
