Meaning

The cabins look extremely rustic and basic from the outside- two even have their original earth roofs- but inside they have large double beds and private bathrooms.

Could anyone do me a favour and describe the meaning of the highlighted part?

Top answer

"earth roofs" is literal (the roofs were covered with earth, possibly turfs). "original" means that the roofs have been there since the cabins were first built. The word "even" emphasises that this is a suprising or noteworthy fact.
