Meaning

Hi all, what does"this is my share of the kill" mean in the sentences:"People are people. It is true today, it was true ten years ago, and it was probably not much different ten thousand years before that: “After all I did to put this hunt together and make it a success, this is my share of the kill? You call that fair?!".
Could you transform it/ simplify it?
It's from Stone Douglas's book called Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most.
Thank you in advance.

e. about hunting animals, then "my share of the kill" means "my share of the meat from the animal that we killed". If it is figurative then there would be a corresponding figurative meaning.
