what is the meaning of "how many privileges you've waived " in the following text?

"I'm the lawyer for the other side in this case," he snapped . "I don't know how many privileges you've waived by calling me like this, but you'd better be careful. I don't want to have to put you on the witness stand . You're represented by counsel. You don't call me directly.
