"meaning"

I have two questions about the following paragraph. I hope someone can help:

Some individual artists may be deeply ‘spiritual’ and subscribe to some kind of belief in a metaphysical wholeness. But, by and large, they question and doubt claims to an absolute truth and fixed taxonomies. Meaning depends on countless variables. However, the increasing predominance of science and technology in our daily lives is bound to provide a stimulus for new art and its pronouncements are already being embraced with interest, intelligent questioning and subjective reinterpretation.

1. What does "meaning" mean here? Is it in relation to the previous sentence and does mean "that is, it depends on ..."? Or does it simply imply "knowledge"?

2. Does "its" in the last sentence refer to "science and technology"?

@Mister Micawber Thank you so much. So, does the last sentence mean "... and the concepts of these new types of art are already being accepted among people with different reactions like interest, intelligent questioning, and subjective reinterpretation"?
