Meaning

Hi
Could any one tell the meaning of the underlined portion? Context: From the poem Chimney Sweepers

Then naked & white, all their bags left behind,
They rise upon clouds, and sport in the wind.
And the Angel told Tom, if he'd be a good boy,
He'd have God for his father & never want joy.

I think it means the boy who would never lack joy as he would be with God.

I agree.

I usually see this idiom clarified a bit better as: "never want for joy."
