Is there any difference in terms of meaning in the following sentences?

E.g ' The greater part of the whole ' vs ' the part of the greater whole'

Even with the longer sentence, I would not use "the part." I would use either "a part" or "one part."
"The part" suggests that there is only a single part (and that is logically impossible).

You're right that's just a phrase , as I already said it's a definition for the word ' highlight ' in a Toefl book ,but the definition was weird to me
