meaning

Hi
Please help me with these questions:

Context: This is an extract from a passage about being oneself (instead of trying to be someone else.)

My theory is that most bitter people are not being true to themselves. My guess is that somewhere along the way, they took a wrong turn they’ve always regretted, and they take out their disappointment on others. You know how there’s always ONE GUY who tells you you’re stupid for not knowing how to do something? To be yourself, you have to be able to ignore him.

My questions:
1. The writer says,"  most bitter people are not true to themselves."

How does this help in justifying that one must take one's own decisions?

2. "...and they take out their disappointment on others."
Does this mean that they prevent others taking their own decisions citing their failures while doing so?

3. "You know how there’s always ONE GUY who tells you you’re stupid for not knowing how to do something? To be yourself, you have to be able to ignore him"

The writer says we must ignore the one who criticizes us for not knowing to do something and by doing so I think he is only influencing us to act by ourselves. Then why should we ignore him?
