Top answer

A sneak preview in terms of movies is a showing of a film in advance of its release, usually during the evening after the regularly scheduled film has been shown. When I was a youngster, these were really quite common, but we never knew what film was being "sneaked in" to be "previewed". It was always a lot of fun.

  • The most memorable one was a sneak preview of "Carry On Nurse", because on the way out all the patrons were handed daffodils to take home.
  • I haven't come across "sneak peek" before, but it must be somehow related.
