Meaning

Hello,

1. They (a group of people) therefore came to see the moneylenders and trades as evil outsider and the cause of their misery.

What is the meaning of the words in bold?

Could anybody here explain it?

Thanks.

In this usage it means to form an opinion of, decide.
They formed the opinion that the moneylenders and trades were evil outsiders.
They decided the moneylenders and trades were evil outsiders.

When we say "came/come to see" we mean mentally see. Hope that helps!
