a boy was looking for his dog.he asked if his mother see it.and she said:"i see it a couple hundred yards ago in or so".
what is the meaning of "a couple hundred yard in"?i want to know what is the exact meaning of "in" here?

A boy was looking for his dog. He asked if his mother had seen it and she said, "I saw it a couple hundred yards or so away."

meaning that the dog was approximately 100 yards away when she saw it. In has no place in that sentence.
