meaning

Hello,

1. We call it shooting of rapids to go through the rapids like a bullet.

I could understand " we call it shooting of rapids " but could not understand the meaning of the remaining part "to go through the rapids like a bullet."

Please, could anybody explain it? or rephrase the sentence in better way .
