Meaning

Sir,

What is the meaning of "by the time" and its usage.

We can not use "by the time" and "when" in one sentence like

by the time father retured, I was asleep.

-----------------------------------------------------------
I took my dog inside.Once inside, I felt safer.
or
I took my dog inside.Once inside, it felt safer.

Which one is correct?

----------------------------------------------------
What is meaning of "cattle wealth"?

------------------------------------------------

I want to sing.

Now I have to analyse the above sentence.

I = subject
Want= main verb.
to sing =?

Please help me.

Thanks
