01font00Methods We assessed the family and medical histories of 84 children (63 boys and 21 girls) with idiopathic cardiac hypertrophy diagnosed before 15 years of age 01b00(mean [±SD] age, 6.99±6.12 years).02b00 We sequenced eight genes: MYH7, MYBPC3, TNNT2, TNNI3, TPM1, MYL3, MYL2, and ACTC. These genes encode sarcomere proteins that, when mutated, cause adult-onset cardiomyopathies. We also sequenced PRKAG2 and LAMP2, which encode metabolic proteins; mutations in these genes can cause early-onset ventricular hypertrophy.02font02br

0Hey NL, you can trust Francesca on this. She is a scientist well-schooled in statistics and has even presented scientific papers in English, including one at the prestigious MIT. If she answers ANYTHING about science, statistics, and especially the fascinating topic of algae, you can take her answer to the bank.0-

When it's says: "The mean ± SD age at the onset of symptoms was 24.40 ±
8.58 years (range 10-46)" Does it mean: The average onset of symptoms is: 24.40 with a range from 8.58 (average)before that age and 8.58 (average) older then that age?

(the onset of symtoms can't
