'me' or 'I'

There are four people in my family: my father, my mother, my brother and me.... or I?

I'd be grateful for an answer and explanation please.
Thank you

.
me

Look at it this way:

My parents only had one child - and that's me.

You have a list of family members here, and the elements of the list are not being used as a subject in a complete sentence, so I can't see that it matters whether you use me or I. If I were saying it, I'd use me. I'm sure there are others who would prefer I.

I'm outnumbered. Granted, most people would say "me." I guess it's one of those acceptable mismatches.
It has the feeling of an appositive to me.

How about, "She gave it to both of us, him and me." In this case, "both" is objective, and it seems like the pronouns should match.
I'd take "he and I" as a hypercorrection.
Would you say it doesn't matter because it's a list?

How someone would really express this in a way that sounds 'natural' is as much the issue as grammar.
There are four people in my family: my father and my mother, my brother and I.
or, since the speaker is referring to himself

I agree.

I'd take it as a mistake.

Hi,
It seems to me that your question has already been answered, but nevertheless I would suggest that you
read the following article by Mignon Fogarty (also known as Grammar Girl). I think that it is a fruitful source
of information and that it might help you, albeit indirectly, answer some of your questions.

CalifJim I'm going over material that was already covered above.
The pedagogical value of repetition cannot be underestimated -- especially in my case. Many thanks!
