Me-my

Hello,

1.She doesn't approve of me leaving school this year.

2.She doesn't approve of my leaving school this year.

What are the differences between the two sentences?

I always get confused with this type of construction because of the usage of objective case 'me' and possessive case

'my' before 'leaving'.

Please help me understand this.

Thanks.
