"Me" as an answer?

Hi. Can a student answer the following questions with "Me," while letting the teacher know they are answering it? Thank you in advance for your help.

Q: Who is doing the worksheet now?
A: Me.

Q: Who can answer the question?
A: Me.

I would answer the questions with "I" (as the subject). Q: Who is doing the worksheet now? A: I am.

I would answer the questions with "I" (as the subject).

Q: Who is doing the worksheet now?
A: I am.

Q: Who can answer the question?
A: I can.

However, you could use "me" as an informal answer. It would work grammatically as shorthand, if you phrase the answer so that "me" is the object of an understood (but not spoken) reply.

I, personally, see no reason for that sort of justification. It is simpler to say that 'Me' is completely acceptable to all but those style-guide writers who find logic

Just to be clear, I did not suggest "I" as the reply, but "I am" or "I can."
But I still believe that "me" is the more colloquial answer.
