Me and Susan are going OR Susan and I are going

Which is the correct way to begin the sentence:

Me and Susan are going...

Susan and I are going...

I was taught one way; my niece says she is being taught the other.

'I' is a subject pronoun,'me' is an object pronoun.

Yo wouldn't say 'me am going', would you?
