Maybe and Perhaps

How is difference between "maybe" and "perhaps?
When should i use "maybe" and when for "perhaps"?

They seem fairly much the same, and are more likely to be used for variety so you don't have to repeat the same word. There's a slight sound difference that can be utilised because 'perhaps' hits and ends with a hard 'p' and 'maybe' with a softer 'm' It's possible (if analysed) that "maybe" has a slightly greater chance of a thing proving doable or true, and perhaps slightly more uncertain. Perhaps someone else can think of something.

The meaning is the same, but "perhaps" is a higher register word while "maybe" is an ordinary everyday word. Use "maybe" unless you are in a situation where you think a more formal word is neede
