Question :
More and more students are choosing to study at colleges and universities in a foreign country.
Do the benefits of studying abroad outweigh the drawbacks?
My answer :
An increasing number of students opt for pursuing higher education abroad . While there are several disadvantages of studying in a foreign country , I believe that it has more advantages
There are some challenges that students have to face during their time abroad . Firstly , in order to pay extortionate tuition fees , they have to find part-time jobs , which may negatively influence their performance at university . Secondly , a new way of life which is much different from their home country's makes them struggle to immerse themselves in the local culture ,so, they are more likely to feel a sense of alienation . Thirdly , the language barrier is a big challenge to some of international students who do not have a food grasp of the national language of the country they travel to for their study-abroad trip . For example , my brother who had not learned Japanese before coming to Japan to undertake his higher education found it really hard to communicate with his friends and the locals.
Despite the negatives mentioned above , I believe that studying overseas has a really positive effect on people's future career . When students are exposed to an international environment , they have to figure out ways to acclimatize to it by themselves . As a result, they will most likely to gain a host of valuable life skills , including communication skills , team-work skills, problem-solving skills which employers overwhelmingly welcome . In addition , if they study in a foreign university that has a good reputation , such as Harvard university , they can have access to cutting-edge technologies , modern amenities and experts in their field of study. Therefore , furthering studies abroad helps them obtain a lot of good knowledge for their future job .
In conclusion , it seems to me that the pros of pursuing further education abroad eclipse the cons
