Hi, how do we handle phrases like "the bidders must submit a bid / bids (...)"?

Yes, I understand this works, but what if I just have to use plural for the subject. I not say in this particular case, but theoretically. Or is it plain wrong to construct such phrases?

If you mean the requirement is for each bidder to submit at least one bid, then

'The bidders must (each) submit a bid' should work fine.
