May perhaps ..

Hi everybody

" Computers in the future may perhaps only weigh 1.5 tons "

I quoted this sentence from a site ...

So , why the writer used may with perhaps ?

I presume it's for emphasis !! ( it's Just a presumption ) Emotion: big smileEmotion: big smile

Hello Junta,

Either "may" or "perhaps" is sufficient to make the statement less certain than "...will only weigh..."; since the writer uses both, it means that the statement is very tentative.
